Learn Bicol : Basic Bicolano Phrases

It’s always nice to know at least a little about the language / dialect of the places we visit. In the Caramoan Islands, the local communities speak Bicol or Bicolano. If you’re planning on visiting the Caramoan Islands soon, the few basic phrases below might help you in getting around the place. These phrases might come handy during communication with the local residents or simply when asking directions.
Good morning – Maray na Aldaw
Good afternoon – Maray na Hapon
Good evening- Maray na banggi
Good night-maray na banggi
Thank you- salamat
You are welcome- mabalos
I’m glad to meet you- Ugma akong naghilingan kita.
My name is… – (name) an ngaran ko
What is your name? – Anong pangaran mo?
Hello – Hello
How are you? – Kumusta
I’m sorry – Patawarun mo ako
Yes – Iyo
No -Dai
Please – Tabi (di ginagamit at the beginning of a sentence)
Please speak slowly – Pakiluway-luwayan man tabi (please) ang pagtaram mo
What is this? -Ano ni?
How much? -Gurano ni?
Do you speak English? -Tatao ka magtaram English?
Do you understand? -Nakakasabot ka?
Where is… -Hain ang…
Where are… ? -Hain ang mga…
How do you say____ in Bikol? -Pano sabihun ang ____ sa Bikol?
I’m tired. -Pagal na ako
It’s ok. -Ayus lng yan.
Mother – Ina (pero di na masyado ginagamit in normal talk) ex. Mama Mary – Inang Maria
Father – Ama
Brother – tugang na lalaki
Sister – tugang na babayi
Hospital – ospital
Store – tindahan
Water – tubig
Food – kakanun
Where is the nearest restroom? -Hain ang pinakaharaning banyo?

Its so nice to learn bicol dialect… i hope there are more translations that will be post here in this site… i am willing to learn bicolano’s dialect… My father is a bicolano and i love to stay and have my vacation in Bicol…

Please don’t bother to stay in Rex Inn, poor ang services nila, mukha silang pera, at di marunong makipag usap. Try other hotel or Inn I suggest, Maganda ang caramoan, pero nadissapoint kami sa tinirhan namin, please see below the Inn.
